FTLR: Third time lucky for McColgan
We’ve unpacked the suitcases, spent a night in our own bed and are now ready to file our copy after the opening of the 2024 season at the third Open de Cascais, and the EuroDov Cup.
It was a great event with so many storylines and battles all over the leaderboard coming down the stretch. In the end it all came down to the final putt of the tournament, a make or break putt that would have seen a first time Major winner had it missed, and an 11 time Major winner if it dropped.
Thankfully for McColgan the putt hit dead centre of the cup and he had his hands on the EuroDov Cup once more.
2024 EuroDov Cup: Tournament Review

9 players descended on Cascais, Portugal, for the third playing of the Open de Cascais, and the 2024 EuroDov Cup.
The players arrived playing a new rota from the previous 2 Open de Cascais with Quinta da Marinha being the only course to feature in all three Opens.
The opening shot of the 2024 season was the honour of the defending EuroDov Cup champion Kevin Brannan, and with it the season was underway.

2024 EuroDov Cup: The Field
It’s March, and the opening shot of the 2024 season is just around the corner.
Kevin Brannan will have the honour in 2024 as the defending champion of the EuroDov Cup, and the 2-time Major winner will be teeing it up on the course where he sealed his maiden Major back in March 2023.
A total of 15 players have appeared in the EuroDov Cup with David McColgan the only player to feature in all 5. Let’s take a look at the 2024 field, where 8 players will vie for the honour of winning the season’s opening event, and Major.
2024 EuroDov Cup: The best courses yet?
March marks the end of the long winter and the beginning of the EuroDov Tour season.
It’s felt like a lifetime since the last event in September 2023, but the wait is over, and the new season is just around the corner.
As ever the first tee shot will be struck outside of the UK as the season opening tournament, and first Major of the season is hosted on the continent, and for the third time in its history in Cascais, Portugal.
FLTR: EuroDov Cup 2023 - Players' reactions
Welcome to our first Players’ reaction of 2023. The EuroDov Cup is in the can and Kevin Brannan is the man of the moment. His second win on Tour and his first Major. He joins an elite group of players on both accounts as the only the 5th player ever to win multiple Tour events and the 7th to lift a Major.
The FTLR team were out in Portugal, following the players and getting their thoughts and analysis – in between a bit of sunbathing.
So, let’s dive right in to hear from the players and find out how they enjoyed the 2023 EuroDov Cup.
EuroDov Cup 2023 - Brannan battles to Major win
The 2023 EuroDov Cup saw the Tour return to competition on the continent. 8 players travelled to Cascais, Portugal, site of the last continental competition to compete over 3 very different courses Estoril Golf Club, Penha Longa and Quinta da Marinha.
The field included previous winners David McColgan and Greig Baxter alongside Stuart Allan, Kevin Brannan, Graeme Connor, Denis Duncan and Stevie Orr.
FTLR: Brannan battles to victory
The From the Locker room team have had a brilliant few days on the Portuguese coast, sunning ourselves at some of the best courses in Portugal watching and waiting for the first tournament of the year to finish.
The team visited historic Estoril Golf Club, before heading to the prestigious Penha Longa Championship course and finished up in a familiar – but re-routed – Quinta da Marinha. We witnessed some great – and not so great golf – and for the third time in a row an on course withdrawal.
After 54 holes we had a new name on the EuroDov Cup and a new Major winner on Tour and it was our pleasure to sit down with the new Major-man, Kevin Brannan.

After 53 holes of golf, Kevin Brannan, Stephen Green and David McColgan stood tied with just a hole to play. And at the end of it all, 7-time Major winner, McColgan stood victorious, but let’s ask him about that dramatic 18th hole.
Tournament Preview: 2022 EuroDov Cup
The EuroDov Tour is a 56-hole strokeplay tournament traditionally held on the continent. Following the cancellation of the 2020 tournament and the subsequent hosting of the event in the UK in 2021, the Tour decided to remain closer to home for 2022.
A 9-player field declared for the 2022 event and here is EuroDov Reporters run down of their chances;
EuroDov Cup 2022: Meet the Players
After an 18 month break the EuroDov Cup returned in 2021. The Tour took the decision due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic to hold the event for the first time ever in the UK. It was an event of first with the largest ever field, 8 players, and it was also the first time in the EuroDov Cup’s history that we had a wire-to-wire winner.
The deadline for declaring for the 2022 edition has closed and the Tour are delighted that once again the field has expanded for the second Major of the year.
FTLR: EuroDov Cup - Players' reactions
The EuroDov Tour rolled into Slaley Hall on Friday morning and the EuroDov Cup was back on the Tour’s schedule for the first time in over two years. The break in play, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, resulted in the largest field in the history of the tournament with eight players competing over for the cup over 54 holes of stroke play golf.
Defending champion Greig Baxter did not make the trip in 2021 so it was a chance for the field to stake their claim for the trophy. The field consisted of four EuroDov rookies, three players returning for the first time since 2018 and 2018 Open de La Manga winner David McColgan, making his third appearance in the Cup.
EuroDov Cup 2021 - Champion's Interview
Slaley Hall was the backdrop for the drama that unfolded over the three days of competition and the From the Locker Room team were there every step of the way for a tournament that didn’t disappoint.
After a weekend that saw four different players hold the lead it was 2018 winner David McColgan who lifted the EuroDov Cup in a wire-to-wire victory unseen in the tournament’s history. We got the chance to sit down with him after his round and hear his reaction on the weekend’s events.
EuroDov Cup - McColgan masterclass leads wire-to-wire
After a 2-year break in play due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the EuroDov Cup finally saw shots hit in anger once more. The EuroDov Tour made its first trip south of the border in its eight-year history as the EuroDov Cup was relocated from Lisbon, Portugal, to Slaley Hall, Northumberland, due to ongoing restrictions relating to the pandemic.
Whilst the set-up at Slaley Hall was long and challenging it undoubtedly required first class ball striking and an ability to pick your way around the course. Neither course was set-up to be over-powered, they didn’t award length over placement and in the end McColgan’s ability to see a path through the 54 holes coupled with a masterclass in ball-striking and approach play saw him lift the first major of the EuroDov Tour season.
Tournament Preview: EuroDov Cup 2021
After a two year wait the EuroDov Tour is delighted that the EuroDov Cup returns to the Tour’s schedule. The 2021 edition of the EuroDov Cup will be held, for the first time, in the UK at Slaley Hall, Northumberland.
2021 sees the largest field in the history of the EuroDov Cup with 8 players taking on the 54 strokeplay competition over the Hunting and Priestman Courses.
EuroDov Cup - Tournament relocated due to Covid-19
The 2021 EuroDov Cup has been announced as the first victim of the 2021 Tour Schedule.
Much like the 2020 edition of the tournament, which was cancelled on the eve of the tournament due to Covid-19, the 2021 edition has also been affected. However, the Tour has taken the decision to cancel the Open de Estoril 3 months ahead of its scheduled date and replace it with a UK based competition.
EuroDov Cup - McColgan reigns in Spain
In 2018 the EuroDov Tour took it's first steps onto the European Continent with the inaugural EuroDov Cup.
The Tour chose La Manga Club, a perennial mecca for spring golf, to host the first Cup. The tournament was played over 54 holes consisting of 36 holes in day one, one round on the South Course and one on the North, followed by 18 holes on the North course on day two.
The first cup boasted a field of 6 players and delivered all the excitement the Tour was known for in the RyDov Cup.
